  • A slatmill is a non-motorized treadmill specifically designed for dogs. Unlike a traditional treadmill, the slatmill moves based on your dog’s own pace, allowing them to run comfortably and naturally. We use a DogTrotter USA slatmill, known as the top-of-the-line option for safety, durability, and performance. This innovative tool provides an excellent outlet for dogs who need proper exercise, especially when outdoor walks aren’t practical.

  • Exercise isn’t just about burning off energy—it plays a critical role in reducing behavioral challenges like reactivity, anxiety, and impulsivity. Regular physical activity helps dogs feel calmer, more focused, and less prone to destructive behaviors.

    Some key benefits of slatmill exercise include:

    • Reducing Reactivity: A well-exercised dog is more relaxed and less reactive to triggers.

    • Building Confidence: Slatmill training can help nervous or anxious dogs build confidence as they achieve new goals.

    • Improving Impulse Control: By channeling your dog’s energy, slatmill runs encourage calmer behavior at home.

    • Weight Management and Fitness: Maintain a healthy weight and cardiovascular health with controlled exercise.

  • Each 15-minute session costs $20 + tax and includes:

    • Introduction & Positive Association: If it’s your dog’s first time, we’ll guide them through a gentle introduction to the slatmill to create a positive experience.

    • Climate-Controlled Facility: Your dog will run in a safe, temperature-controlled environment, ensuring their comfort during every session.

    • Customized Exercise: Whether your dog is a beginner or experienced runner, we tailor the pace and time to suit their needs.

  • Dog Run sessions are available by appointment only to ensure every dog receives dedicated attention and a tailored experience. Appointments are offered during the following hours:

    • Mon-Thurs: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Exclusive to SmartPlay members - as well as Day Academy and Board+Train dogs in our care)

    How to Book: SmartPlay members can book Dog Run sessions at drop-off for their dogs during daycare hours (10 AM to 1 PM).

    If your pup is in Day Academy or Board+Train, just let us know—we’ll make sure they get their run in during their stay!

Requirements

At this time, Dog Run is exclusively available to SmartPlay Members - as well as Day Academy and Board+Train dogs in our care.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs, we have the following requirements:

  • Age: Dogs must be at least 6 months old.

  • Health: Proof of up-to-date vaccinations and a vet-approved fitness level are required.

  • Nail Care: Dogs must have trimmed nails to prevent paw injuries or slatmill damage.

  • Pre-Run Prep:

    • No food or water 2 hours prior to the session - no food 1-hour after run.

    • A 10-minute walk is required before the session to ensure potty needs are met.

    • A $15 cleaning fee will apply if accidents occur during the session.

  • Motivation: To help keep your dog excited and engaged during their slatmill run, we encourage you to bring along their favorite toy or treat!
