PUPPY FOUNDATIONS
Build the dog you want to live with.
Puppyhood is the easiest time to create good habits—and the easiest time to accidentally create bad ones.
Our Puppy Development programs give young dogs a structured start through training, exposure, routine, and owner education before pulling, jumping, overexcitement, fear, and other habits have a chance to become the norm.
What We’re Building
A STRONGER FOUNDATION FOR A LIFETIME TOGETHER
How It Works
A STRUCTURED, REAL-WORLD APPROACH
01. Evaluation + Game Plan
We meet your puppy, talk through what's happening at home, and determine the right training plan based on their age, temperament, development, and your goals.
02. Day Training
Your puppy spends Monday through Thursday with our trainers working through short, age-appropriate training sessions throughout the day.
Training is balanced with crate time, rest, play, exposure, and carefully selected social opportunities.
03. Real-World Development
We introduce puppies to different people, dogs, surfaces, sounds, environments, handling, and everyday distractions.
Socialization isn't about meeting everyone.
It's teaching your puppy how to exist confidently and appropriately around the world.
04. Owner Transfer
Training only works if it comes home with your puppy.
We'll teach you how to reinforce the same routines, boundaries, communication, and expectations so your puppy gets consistency on both sides.

What We Work On
Every pup is different, but common areas include:
Household Structure
Crate routines, potty training support, settling, boundaries, jumping, biting, chewing, and learning when it's time to switch off.
Obedience Foundation
Name recognition, sit, down, place, recall, leash foundations, engagement, and beginning duration work.
Confidence + Exposure
New environments, surfaces, sounds, objects, handling, people, dogs, and everyday situations.
Learning appropriate interaction while also developing neutrality—the ability to see another dog or person without needing to interact with them.
Social Skills
Impulse Control
Waiting at doors, controlling excitement, reducing demanding behavior, and learning that calm behavior gets rewarded too.
What Happens After?
Training doesn't stop when the program ends. Depending on your puppy's age and progress, we'll help you determine the right next step. That may include:
SmartPlay → Structured social time and continued exposure for eligible graduates.
Tune-Ups → Add focused training to a SmartPlay Day to reinforce previously learned skills, refresh areas that need attention, or keep good habits from slipping.
Private Training → Continue developing handling skills and work on specific goals with your trainer.
Advanced Training → As your puppy matures, we can continue building reliability, leash skills, off-leash control, and more advanced obedience.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Puppy Foundation is generally designed for puppies approximately 3–6 months old. We'll determine whether the program is appropriate during your evaluation.
-
Age-appropriate vaccinations are required based on your puppy's age and veterinarian recommendations. We'll review current requirements with you before your puppy begins training.
-
No.
Your puppy will have opportunities for play and social interaction when appropriate, but the program revolves around training, structure, exposure, rest, and development—not all-day free play.
-
Potentially, but interaction is intentional and based on the puppy.
We care just as much about teaching puppies to be neutral around dogs as we do about appropriate social interaction.
-
No puppy program can guarantee that.
Genetics, temperament, environment, owner follow-through, adolescence, and life experiences all influence behavior. Our job is to give you and your puppy the strongest foundation possible and help prevent avoidable problems from becoming habits.
-
Yes.
Every puppy starts with an evaluation so we can learn about your puppy, understand your goals, and recommend the appropriate program.
