FAQ
Everything you need to know before getting started with Rebound K9
-
How do I know which training program is right for my dog?
We'll start by learning more about your dog, the behaviors you're experiencing, your goals, and what life at home looks like. From there, we'll recommend the program and training plan we believe makes the most sense for your dog.
Our primary training options include Private Sessions, Day Train, and Board & Train.
Do I need an evaluation before starting?
For new clients, yes.
An evaluation gives us an opportunity to meet you and your dog, observe their behavior, discuss what's happening at home, and determine the best path forward.
It also gives you an opportunity to learn more about how we train and ask questions before committing to a program.
What types of behaviors do you work with?
We work with everything from basic obedience and leash manners to more challenging behavioral concerns, including reactivity, fear & insecurity, resource guarding, aggression, poor impulse control, difficulty settling, and other behaviors that make everyday life with your dog difficult.
Because every dog and situation is different, we'll assess whether we're the appropriate fit during the evaluation process.
Is my dog too young or too old for training?
Probably not.
Training can begin early and continue throughout a dog's life. What we work on — and how we approach it — will depend on your dog's age, temperament, development, and individual needs.
For puppies, our focus is often less about perfect obedience and more about building confidence, handling skills, boundaries, engagement, exposure, and good habits from the beginning.

What does "balanced dog training" mean?
Balanced training means we use both reinforcement and fair corrections to communicate with dogs.
We use things dogs value — including food, play, praise, and affection — to teach and reinforce behaviors. We also believe that once a dog understands what is being asked, clear boundaries and appropriate consequences can be an important part of training.
Every dog is different, so our approach is built around the dog in front of us rather than one predetermined method.
What training tools do you use?
Depending on the dog and their training goals, we may use food, toys, slip leads, long lines, prong collars, e-collars, and other training equipment.
We don't believe every dog needs every tool, and we don't choose tools simply because we can. If we recommend something for your dog, we'll explain why we're using it and teach you how to use it correctly.
Do you use prong collars and e-collars?
Yes, when appropriate.
Both may be incorporated into our training programs depending on the individual dog, their behavior, and their training goals.
A tool isn't the training itself. It's one part of a larger communication system that includes teaching, reinforcement, structure, boundaries, and owner education.
Do you use corrections?
Yes. Corrections are one component of our balanced approach.
Our priority is first creating clarity and teaching the dog what we're asking. Once a dog understands a behavior, corrections may be used when appropriate to create accountability and establish clear boundaries.
Corrections are individualized to the dog, the behavior, and their level of understanding. The goal isn't to correct as hard as possible — it's to communicate as clearly as possible.
Will my dog have to use a prong collar or e-collar?
Not necessarily.
We make recommendations based on your individual dog, their behavior, your goals, and the program they're enrolled in.
That said, Rebound K9 is a balanced training facility. Our training does not exclude corrections or specific tools when we believe they are appropriate.
If you're looking for a training program that completely eliminates those methods regardless of the individual dog, we may not be the right fit.
What if I'm uncomfortable with a training tool?
Talk to us.
It's completely reasonable to have questions about something you've never used before. If we recommend a tool you're unfamiliar with, we'll explain why we're recommending it, demonstrate how it's used, and teach you how to use it correctly.
We don't expect our clients to come to us already knowing how to train dogs. That's part of what you're hiring us for.
However, our programs require trust between owner and trainer. If there are specific training methods or tools you're firmly unwilling to consider, please let us know before enrolling so we can determine whether we're the right fit.

What's the difference between Private Sessions, Day Train, and Board & Train?
Private Sessions puts you directly into the training process. You'll work alongside your trainer and learn how to train and manage your dog yourself.
Day Train gives us a more hands-on role. Your dog spends the day training with our team and returns home with you, allowing us to build skills while you continue practicing them at home.
Board & Train is our most immersive option. Your dog stays with us while we establish new routines, behaviors, communication, and structure through consistent daily training.
We'll recommend the option we believe best fits your dog, your goals, and your lifestyle.
How long will my dog need training?
It depends on the dog.
Age, temperament, behavioral history, severity of the behavior, training goals, previous reinforcement, and owner involvement can all affect how much time we recommend.
We'll give you our recommendation after evaluating your dog and explain why we believe that timeframe is appropriate.
Will my dog interact with other dogs?
When appropriate.
Our goal isn't to make every dog play with every dog. For many dogs, learning to exist calmly and neutrally around other dogs is far more valuable.
Controlled exposure to other dogs may be incorporated into training based on your dog's needs, behavior, and comfort level.
Will I receive updates during my dog's training?
Yes.
For Day Train and Board & Train programs, we'll keep you updated on your dog's progress and let you know what we're working on throughout the program.
We'll also teach you how to continue the training at home so the progress doesn't end when the program does.
What happens after my dog's program?
Training doesn't stop when your dog comes home.
We'll show you what your dog has learned, how to communicate with them, how to use any recommended training equipment, and what expectations you'll need to maintain at home.
Your follow-through matters. The more consistently you apply what you've learned, the more likely your dog's new behaviors are to become part of everyday life.
Do you guarantee results?
No ethical trainer can guarantee exactly how a living animal will behave in every situation.
What we can promise is that we'll train the dog in front of us, communicate honestly about their progress and limitations, and give you the knowledge and tools needed to continue the work at home.
Long-term success depends heavily on consistency, lifestyle, environment, and owner follow-through.

How much does training cost?
Pricing depends on the program and recommended length of training.
Current pricing for Private Sessions, Day Train, and Board & Train can be found on their respective program pages. After your evaluation, we'll provide a clear recommendation and review the associated cost before you commit to anything.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Payment options are available for qualifying training programs. Contact us for current details.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A deposit is required to reserve your dog's spot for applicable training programs.
Your dog's dates are not secured until the required deposit and enrollment requirements have been completed.
Are training tools included in the program price?
No.
We provide the equipment necessary while your dog is training with us, but personal training tools and equipment are not included in the program price.
If we recommend equipment for continued use at home, it will be available for purchase separately and we'll teach you how to use it properly.
-
Is Rebound K9 right for every dog and owner?
Probably not — and that's okay.
Rebound K9 is best suited for owners who want practical, real-world change, are willing to be involved in the process, and are open to making changes at home when necessary.
We use a balanced training approach and expect our clients to be open to the training methods and tools we recommend based on their individual dog.
We're probably not the right fit if you're looking for training that completely excludes corrections or certain training tools, or if you're unwilling to maintain structure, boundaries, and training at home.
Training is a partnership. We can do a lot of the heavy lifting — but lasting change requires you, too.

What is The Pack?
The Pack is our exclusive membership program for dogs who have completed training with Rebound K9.
Training doesn't end when your dog's program does. The Pack gives our graduates continued access to the Rebound community, ongoing training support, structured services, and opportunities to keep building on the foundation they've already established with us.
Who can join The Pack?
The Pack is exclusively available to Rebound K9 training graduates.
Because we've already worked with your dog, our team understands their training, behavior, communication, and individual needs. This allows us to continue supporting both you and your dog long after their initial program ends.
Eligibility may depend on the training program completed and your dog's individual behavior and needs.
What's included with The Pack?
Pack members receive access to services and benefits reserved specifically for Rebound K9 graduates, including SmartPlay (structured daycare), Tune-up training days, group classes, Stay & Train (exclusively for dogs that have completed a Board & Train program), and other member benefits.
Available services, pricing, and membership benefits may vary, so contact us for current Pack offerings.
Is The Pack regular dog daycare?
No.
While Pack members have access to SmartPlay, The Pack is much more than a daycare program.
It's our way of continuing the relationship after formal training ends — giving graduates access to an environment where their training is understood, their expectations can remain consistent, and owners have continued support when they need it.
Do I have to join The Pack after training?
No. Membership is completely optional.
Your training program is designed to give you the skills and foundation to continue working with your dog at home. The Pack simply gives graduates another way to stay connected and continue receiving support from our team.
Can I join The Pack if my dog trained somewhere else?
No. The Pack is exclusively for dogs who have completed an eligible training program with Rebound K9.
This allows us to maintain a community of dogs whose training history, communication system, and behavior our team already knows.
Does my dog still need training after graduating?
Training is never really "finished."
Your dog's formal program gives them a foundation, but maintaining that progress requires consistency over time.
The Pack gives owners access to additional support when needed — whether that's a tune-up, continued practice, structured daycare, or help working through something new.
What if my dog's behavior changes after training?
Reach out to us.
Dogs change, environments change, and new challenges can come up. One of the benefits of remaining part of The Pack is having a team that already knows your dog and their training history.
If additional training is needed, we can help determine the best next step rather than having you start from scratch.
How do I join The Pack?
Once your dog completes an eligible Rebound K9 training program, we'll let you know whether they're eligible for Pack membership and walk you through the available membership options.
The Pack isn't where training ends. It's how you stay part of Rebound after you graduate.
